Rainy Day Recess, Buddies, and a Little More Science

Here is the paper we made yesterday.  It turned out really pretty!  (Looks better in real life than in this picture).  The class was pretty excited, and somewhat surprised, that it really did dry and turn into new paper.  They asked when we are going to do it again.   Today in science we were sorting and graphing recyclables.

Since it was raining most of the day today, we had INDOOR RECESS  As a child, I never knew why my teachers were not more excited about this event.  Now I understand.  For times such as these, I pull out a few new toys.  We took out the Super Fort.  I don't tell them how to use it though... that's for them to figure out!  First they figured out how the pieces connected.

Then they figured out how to make it a little more 3-dimensional.

Eventually it did look like a fort and they figured out how to connect the colorful sides.
It was an exercise in problem solving and learning to work together.

Our 4th Grade Buddies came over again.  We started with a large group game, and then everyone could choose a puzzle or game.  It was lots of fun.
