Uppercase letters, big books, things I've learned

This morning after looking for our letter of the week, we looked at all the uppercase letters in the morning message and tried to figure out why they were uppercase: name or beginning a sentence? 

 

 We enjoyed reading big books together this afternoon.

 

One of our math centers this week was playing with dominoes.  One thing I've learned over the last few years.  Always let them play with the manipulatives before requiring them to use them for a specific task.  So some children built towers, some made rivers and trees, some made lines to knock down (great fine motor activity!), some pretended the dominoes were people....and everyone had fun.
